About Made-To-Order Target Probes
Our proprietary probe design software can be applied to any public or proprietary sequences and is very flexible. Whether you are looking for a specific transcript, splice variants, specific regions within a transcript variant or PAN probes targeting entire gene families or multi-gene pools we can help.

- Rapid worldwide delivery: After filing out the request form, consultation with a ChampDx team member and receipt from a valid purchase order you can expect your custom probe set shipped within 5 business days.
- All transcript variants: A typical [ChampISH] Made-To-Order Target Probe consists up to 20 Mirror C probe pairs designed to detect all transcript variants for the intended gene. This can include the target coding (CDS) and/or non-coding UTR regions for the mRNA.
- Splice variants: In the case that your gene of interest has transcript variants that differ in functions but share a lot of same sequence a transcript variant-specific probes can usually be designed. Typically this requires at least 300 unique bases between transcript variants in order for enough Mirror C probes to be designed to ensure signal.
- Specific regions within a single transcript variant: In cases where your research requires a probe targeting a specific region of the target mRNA we can typically design a probe set if your region of interest is between 300 and 1000 bases. We are happy to work with you in designing a probe set and protocol. Please keep in mind that the robustness of [ChampISH] target probe signals is directly proportional to the number of Mirror C probe pairs and length of amplification. Depending on the number of Mirror C probe pairs that can be designed, level of RNA degradation and the expression level of target mRNA may require a modified protocol.
- Gene families: All [ChampISH] target probes are designed against a single member of a gene family. Even among highly conserved mRNA sequences it is usually possible to develop a Mirror C target probes for genes that are less than 85% homology to any other gene. If your research requires a single target probe targeting multiple genes can usually be accommodated. - Multi-gene PAN probes: If your research requires detecting multiple genes pooled together within a single [ChampISH] target probe we can design a single target probe that detects your markers of interests. Examples of these types of target probes are our pooled probes specific for different human papillomavirus subtypes which can be found [Here] or target probes for specific cell phenotypes.
- Limited Exclusivity: Virtually all probes that ChampDx designs and manufactures are based on sequences that are annotated in a publicly available genome databases like the NCBI Reference Sequence Database. Therefore, all such probe targets are made available to the general public through our website. However, their are unique situations where ChampDx will consider designing a target probe that is available only to the requesting customer. For instance, when the requested target is a synthetic gene. In this case the target probe will only become available to the general public when either the target sequence becomes public or the customer's written request.
