A GMS Stain is a modified Gomori Methenamine-Silver Nitrate (GMS) stain for histologically visualizing the basement membrane, fungi, and other opportunistic organisms in tissue sections.
This is stain is optimized for both the standard one hour and thirty-minute and the 15-minute microwave procedure. A Methenamine Silver Developing Solution is the primary stain producing grayish-black fungi contrasted against a green background counterstained with a Light Green Solution.
