A Gram Stain (McDonald's) enables the identification and differentiation of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria in tissue samples.
This is an optimized gram stain that is designed to replace the Brown and Brenn/Hopps, and other modified Gram methods. Saffranin has been replaced with Carbol Fuchsin to give a more intense stain and the replacement of hazardous components such as the Gallegos Differentiating Solution and Picric Acid / Acetone Solution make the stain safer than traditional methods.
Gentian Violet and Carbol Fuchsin are the primary stains resulting in red gram-negative bacteria and blue-gram positive bacteria. An improved Tartrazine Solution produces an intense yellow background in under a minute compared to traditional Tartrazine formulations.
Each Kit Contains:
- Gentian Violet Solution
