An AFB Stain is a rapid 15-minute Acid Fast Bacteria (AFB) stain for histologically visualizing mycobacteria (acid-fast bacteria) in tissue samples.
This is an optimized AFB stain that is comparable to and can replace Kinyoun-based AFB and Ziehl-Neelsen methods for staining mycobacteria. Unlike with other AFB stains, An AFB Stain utilizes a unique Carbol Fuchsin Solution that eliminates the requirement for heat and shorter staining time.
Carbol Fuchsin is the primary stain producing Bright Red acid-fast bacteria contrasted against a green background counterstained with a Light Green Solution.

- Acid Alcohol Solution (0.5%)
- Light Green Solution
